Another perfect day in the Country. Also another well attended paint-out and demo with many new faces. Anne Bonnyman gave us lots of good advice and perspectives. Engadine Inn includes some wonderful scenery. Rick Bell of Engadine Inn & Cabins said “I’m so glad we had such a crowd and that everyone seemed to enjoy themselves!“
A perfect spring day for a great Paint-out with Gary Cooley providing wonderful instruction, insights, and stories. The JuneBug Retro Resort was beautiful and more than welcoming to our large group of painters. There was much more to paint then just the lovely RV’s … meadows, woods, a stream & even a farm!
A bit cold, a bit wet (from previous day’s rain), but a clear sunny day for our first paint out of the season with Cheryl Keefer leading the way. We were even joined by a large group of students from A.C. Reynolds High School.

In a blend of realism and impressionism, artist Deborah Squier, creates an intimate interpretation of the landscape around her. Her luminous, atmospheric paintings capture the subtle light, time of day and tonal shifts in both color and value.
Lindesay Harkness grew up in England, where she developed an affinity for English countryside, gardens and wildflowers and a love of the beauty of the natural world. In 1975 she moved to Cambridge MA where she completed a PhD. In 1978 she discovered a pocket of knowledgeable, representational artists with direct links to the Boston school at its zenith. She studied portraiture with one of them, Robert Cormier, at Fenway Studios. When she was offered an opportunity to study full time with another member of this group, Paul Ingbretson, she abandoned her post- doctoral fellowship, purchased a studio at Fenway studios and began a life-transforming apprenticeship. Two years later she moved to Chapel Hill, where she has lived since.
North Carolina landscape artist Scott Boyle is a visual explorer, a promoter of plein air painting, and the founder of the North Carolina Plein Air Painters, which organizes numerous outdoor painting events around the state each year. Additionally, he teaches workshops and frequently speaks on subjects relating to outdoor painting.

Artist, Brennen McElhaney was born in 1968 in Santa Barbara, California. He studied illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1990.
Ann Vasilik, a native of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania has lived in Asheville, North Carolina since 1988. She received a bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Philadelphia College of Art. Ann has worked as a painter, illustrator and teacher in Virginia, California, Hawaii, North Carolina and the Republic of the Philippines. She has had numerous one-woman shows and has received many awards and commissions. Her work is contained in private and corporate collections.
