Early July and the APAP group was down in the French Broad River Park in Ashevile. Where there was plenty of cool shade and Terrilynn DeBreuil charge up the artists with her lively pastel demonstration. She inspired us all! Watch some takeouts by clinking the link to “continue reading” below.
Terrilynn DeBreuil • Pastel
Travel and art share a life-enriching and creative partnership in the artist’s life. Terrilynn has a
passion for exploring new places throughout the world and creating original art with a focus on
pastel paintings, and also uses watercolor, oil, photography, and other media. Joy of life,
creative expression, and spiritual sensitivity are the characteristics of the artwork. Color, light,
and texture convey a balance between impressionism and realism. A subject, or experience, speaks to the artist and she aims to allow a spiritual interpretation to flow, not from her, but through her.
Beyond a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree she has studied in wide-ranging situations to expand
personal knowledge and creative resources. She has taught various media and techniques of
art to people of all ages for thirty years. In teaching, she says that she often learns more herself
than she shares with her students. Keeping a hand in many types of media helps her instruct
students in their personal areas of interest as it expands her own.
To date she has traveled or lived in fifteen countries. She exhibits and sells artwork in diverse venues and has pieces in private collections from Maine to California, Spain and France, to Ecuador and Chile.
